When the load exceeds what bronze or conventional steel can withstand, WX bushings are usually the solution of choice – a combination of high mechanical strength and good sliding properties, specifically designed for demanding applications where friction must nevertheless be kept under control. They are frequently chosen as an intermediate solution between a pure metal bushing and a fully polymeric one, when neither of these two extremes perfectly meets the application’s requirements.
The structure features a robust metal backing coated with a polymer sliding layer, applied in such a way as to withstand high contact pressures without rapid degradation. Contact pressure is distributed evenly across the surface, which reduces the risk of localised deformation and uneven wear – a detail that matters greatly in the long term, particularly under variable loads or repeated shocks.
They withstand peak loads well, perform consistently under temperature fluctuations and maintain low friction at the interface with the pin, even after long periods of continuous operation. In practice, they extend the interval between maintenance intervals and reduce the likelihood of an unexpected failure that could bring the machinery to a standstill at an inopportune moment.
You’ll need the pin diameter, the contact length and the maximum load the part will be subjected to – just as with the XA or E92 series. Compare these values with the manufacturer’s technical data sheet before ordering – incorrect fitting will rapidly shorten the bushing’s service life and may also affect surrounding components.
