BSZ wipers are protective seals for the rods of hydraulic cylinders, made from a combination of PTFE and NBR. The bi-material construction differentiates them from wipers made from a single polymer: PTFE provides a contact surface with minimal friction against the rod, while the NBR body maintains the elasticity required for stable fixation in the groove. They are used in applications where reduced friction is a technical requirement — cylinders with rapid movement or very frequent operating cycles.
BSZ wipers clean the rod during retraction and block the ingress of dust, mud, and water into the area of the internal seals. Unlike standard polyurethane or NBR wipers, BSZ combines the chemical resistance of PTFE with the flexibility of NBR. You can find the complete catalog of hydraulic wipers on Hydraulic Seals Store.
PTFE has the lowest coefficient of friction among polymer materials — the contact of the lip with the rod generates minimal friction force, reducing the wear of both the wiper and the rod surface. The NBR in the wiper body ensures stable fixation in the groove and maintains its shape under temperature variations. The combination is also chemically advantageous: PTFE is resistant to synthetic oils, biodegradable fluids, and a wide range of chemical agents that would degrade standard NBR. Also compare with LBH wipers made of NBR available in our offer.
BSZ wipers operate at temperatures between -40°C and +200°C (PTFE lip), with a much wider range compared to standard NBR. Reduced friction makes BSZ the correct choice for cylinders with rapid cycles where frictional heating would be a problem. They are compatible with standard cylinders in mobile and stationary industries. If the application involves environments with mechanical impacts or coarse abrasive particles, compare with DWI wipers with a metal insert.
