WR POM guide rings are guide components made of POM (polyoxymethylene) with a WR profile, used in hydraulic cylinders to stabilize the piston or rod and absorb radial loads at moderate speeds and loads. POM is a technical material with good rigidity, a low coefficient of friction against steel, and resistance to mechanical wear, without requiring additional lubrication.
The WR profile is designed for precise guidance of the piston or rod throughout the entire cylinder stroke, maintaining coaxiality and preventing metal-to-metal contact. The shape of the profile distributes radial loads over a larger surface compared to narrow guide strips, reducing contact pressure and wear. You can find the complete catalog of guide rings on hydsealstore.ro.
POM has greater rigidity compared to polyurethane or PTFE, suitable for applications with moderate radial loads and medium speeds. It operates at temperatures between -40°C and +100°C and is resistant to mineral hydraulic oils and greases. It does not have self-lubricating properties as pronounced as PTFE, but performs well with minimal lubrication. Also compare with KZT guide ring made of PTFE/bronze for higher loads.
The selection is based on the inner diameter, outer diameter, and ring width. The installation position — on the piston or on the cylinder head — also determines the type of groove available. They are replaced during a complete overhaul when the radial clearance exceeds the specified tolerances. Also compare with WR CFP guide ring for higher lateral loads.
